Grandy and Gentry LGBTQ+ Ally Endowed Scholarship

Daniel Gentry ’84 is President and CEO of AUPHA, the global community of nearly 250 universities that grant degrees in healthcare management. While preparing to leave full time academia in 2019, he shared with colleagues that he would explore opportunities to serve more than one academic program which had been his focus for 26 years. He now has the privilege of serving his field of health administration and policy education. He earned his BA from the College of Charleston, MHA from MUSC, and PhD in Health Services & Policy analysis from the University of California, Berkeley.

During his time at the College of Charleston, he developed a strong friendship with Linda Gogswell Grandy ‘84. Linda stepped forward as an LGBTQ+ ally during a time when the College was not as inclusive and focused on ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all students. This scholarship honors Linda and Daniel’s lifelong friendship and serves to encourage the next generation of LGBTQ+ allies at the College of Charleston.

Daniel and his husband, Patrick, split their time between Pensacola, Florida and Washington, D.C.
