Harry W. Freeman Endowed Scholarship-Alumni

Dr. Harry W. Freeman, class of 1943, served in the Navy during World War II and received his doctorate from Stanford University in 1951. He joined the College of Charleston faculty in 1960 as a Professor of Biology and as head of the Biology Department. He advised countless students throughout his 39 years of teaching, including hundreds of pre-med students who are now physicians. In 1995, Dr. Freeman was awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters from the College and in 2005, he received the Founder’s Medal, the highest award presented by the College.
