Jeffrey A. Foster Endowed French Travel Fund

This scholarship is for students who travel to France as part of an approved study abroad program through the College.

Dr. Foster was born in Brooklyn, New York and received his Ph.D. in French Literature at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He taught at the College for 28 years and served as section leader and Chair of the French Department for nine years until his retirement. Under Jeff’s leadership, the department continued its strong tradition of preparing students for a world where language plays a pivotal role in many professions. In 1990, Dr. Foster was selected by his peers to receive the Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes the contribution of a faculty member who has served the college community in an outstanding manner, beyond his or her required duties. He also advised a number of student organizations during his tenure, including Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and Pi Delta Phi, a national French honor society for which he later became Regional Vice President.
