Anne Marley and Allen Lyndrup Endowed/Annual Theatre Scholarship

The Anne Marley and Allen Lyndrup Theatre Scholarship is for junior or senior theatre majors who go above and beyond. Recipients must have a 3.0 or better GPA and demonstrate financial need.

Over the course of 46 years Allen Lyndrup taught students in a number of theatre disciplines including acting, directing, technical theatre, scene design, script analysis and theatre history. While his primary production work was in the areas of stage direction, scene design and theatre technology; other accomplishments of note include designing and supervising the building of the Chapel Theatre, managing a successful summer dinner theatre, writing the musical score for LYSISTRATA — a CofC mainstage production — and serving as lead writer while producing and directing WOLFI, a biographical play about Mozart for the CofC celebration of his 250th birthday. In 1991 he was appointed Chair of the College of Charleston Theatre Department; prior to that he taught at James Madison University and the University of Virginia. Allen and his beloved wife Anne have supported theatre students through monetary donations and their commitment to the department. This scholarship is a testament to their commitment to the bright futures of the student recipients and the ongoing success of the department.
