Thomas W. Carroll Memorial Scholarship Fund

This general scholarship fund is awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need to provide opportunities for deserving students at College of Charleston.

The Thomas W. Carroll Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. Carroll’s daughter, Hattie Carroll, ’35, through a charitable remainder trust in her estate. Mr. Carroll was born in 1875, the son of an English immigrant. He was the owner and founder of Thomas W. Carroll Inc. Fish and Seafood on Market Street in Downtown Charleston that opened in 1895. Thomas married Hattie Phillips Carroll in 1906 and had three children: Edwin Phillips Carroll, Robert Carroll, and Hattie Phillips Carroll.
