Lisa Matthews Annual Scholarship

This scholarship is for students with financial need participating in the CharlestonLIFE Program. The scholarship can be renewable for the student’s tenure in the program.

Joyce Runion named the scholarship for her little sister, Lisa Matthews. She had Down Syndrome and was such a special person, always happy and positive. Joyce says, “She made me realize the true meaning of life. I cared for her since my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and they both came to live with me. Unfortunately, Lisa also had that horrible disease, though she remained very positive until her passing in April 2026. It is important to me to recognize someone who means so much to me. I know my parents would be ecstatic knowing Lisa has a scholarship named for her. I say this to you: If you are a recipient, never give up on your dreams and plans. Stay the course, work hard and make the sacrifices needed to be successful and achieve your goals.
