George P. Watt, Jr. Endowed Scholarship

The College of Charleston Foundation Board of Directors unanimously adopted a resolution at its May 19, 2017 meeting to establish the George P. Watt, Jr. Scholarship to commemorate Mr. Watt’s service and contributions to the Foundation. George P. Watt, Jr. served the College of Charleston Foundation for nearly nine years as its Executive Director and the College of Charleston as its Executive Vice President of Institutional Advancement. His service to the Foundation and the College was marked by tireless dedication to their mission, consummate professionalism, administrative skill and wisdom. During his tenure, he demonstrated an exceptional ability to harness the support of the many constituencies of the Foundation and the College, including students, administrators, faculty, alumni, board members, donors and friends, for the benefit of the College. The tangible results of Mr. Watt’s service to the Foundation and the College are reflected in a record of unprecedented increases in philanthropic support to the College, including restricted and unrestricted giving, annual giving and a record-breaking Campaign, as well as in the creation of an organizational base to sustain increased levels of philanthropy in the future.
