Charleston Wine + Food Festival Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship is for incoming freshman students who intend to declare a major, minor, or concentration in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTMT) in the School of Business. Applicants must submit an industry-relevant statement or cover letter, and a resume in which they demonstrate some hospitality experience. This scholarship is renewable for up to 3 subsequent years provided that recipients meet the following criteria:
- Declare their major, minor, or concentration during the first semester of freshman year and maintain the hospitality and tourism management major, minor, or concentration.
- Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA
- It is strongly preferred that Excellence Scholarship recipients work with Department faculty and Charleston Wine & Food staff to seek an internship or similar professional exposure at the organization for at least one semester.
Students will be asked to meet with a member of the Charleston Wine and Food team after selection.
Since 2007 the Charleston Wine + Food Festival has been an advocate and supporter of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Students. BB&T Charleston Wine + Food is a celebration of Charleston’s culinary excellence and renowned culture, which benefits scholarship programs for the culinary and hospitality workplace. The BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival® is a non-profit organization that celebrates the renowned food culture of Charleston, SC during a five-day event the first weekend of every March. With a local food culture rich in tradition, James Beard Award-winning chefs, and the best city to visit in the world (according to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards), the Festival infuses home-grown flavor with top chefs, winemakers, authors, storytellers and food enthusiasts.
