Margaret W. Humphreys Annual Scholarship
Margaret W. Humprheys received her B.A. in Early Childhood Education and her M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina. She began her teaching career in 1973, joining the College of Charleston in 1977 as a Teaching Associate. After three years, Margaret became a Master Teacher for the two-year-olds at the Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC). In 1983, she became the Director of ECDC and served in that capacity until 2004. While Director, she also taught several education courses as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Charleston.
This scholarship will provide support to students majoring in Teacher Education within the School of Education. Preference will be given to students that are an active participant in the Sisters of Septima Program. Preference will also be given to students who are considered part of an underrepresented minority population.
The scholarship is renewable for the recipient as long as they maintain the requirements listed above.
