Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the College of Charleston Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs Office and Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA), and students who are working in the restaurant industry while attending college.

In 1982, Queen Street Hospitality Group had a vision to provide a uniquely “Charleston” dining experience with a focus on fresh, local cuisine and gracious hospitality. They had the perfect setting consisting of three buildings and a garden courtyard nestled in the Historic French Quarter, but they could not agree on a name. With the pressure of opening upon them, founding partners, Harvey Poole, Joe Sliker, and Chef Steve Kish decided to simply use the street address as the name. And so was born one of Charleston’s oldest and most celebrated restaurants- 82 Queen. Today, Steve Kish is the proud owner of not only 82 Queen, but Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen and Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila as well. A founding member of the Chef Association, a Charleston Restaurant Association Board member, and a Taste of Charleston Fund Name: Queen Street Hospitality Group Endowed Scholarship FE #: Page 2 of 4 and Oyster Festival Chairman, Kish is a highly regarded member of the city’s food & beverage community. After 40 years, Steve has decided to retire from 82 Queen and his two sons, Jonathan (CEO) and Patrick (COO) will lead the Queen Street Hospitality Group team. To recognize and celebrate the significant milestone of the 40th Anniversary of 82 Queen and their father’s retirement, the Queen Street Hospitality Group team would like to establish an endowed scholarship that honors the wonderful legacy of Steve, both personally and professionally.
