Ward B. Miller '76 Scholarship
Ward B. Miller was born in Salters, SC to Reverend Clifton and Mrs. Bertha McCray Miller. He was a proud graduate of the College of Charleston with a B.A. degree in Political Science. In 1974, Ward became one of the founders of the Eta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on the campus. In Winston-Salem, NC he had a long and distinguished banking career while tirelessly volunteering with many nonprofits in the community. Through it all, God was the author of his life!
Ward was a true Servant Leader who demonstrated what it means to serve others First and Lead by serving others. Ward’s primary goals as he volunteered across the community were to serve, focusing on growth and well-being of people and the broader community; to recognize and understand the needs of the people; and, as a doer, to act to meet the needs.
A servant leader is committed to the growth and development of people and building community. A Servant leader shares power and puts the needs of others first. Ward B. Miller was an extraordinary Servant Leader and served the Winston-Salem Community with heart, spirit and the love of God.
