Robert Hartman Quasi-Endowed Scholarship in History

Created from funds received by the Department of History from the estate of Robert Hartman. Robert (Bob) Blaydes Duerson Hartman was a Virginia native, born in June 1931. He was the only child of William Tyler Hartman and Elizabeth Duerson Hartman, His mother passed away when he was a freshman in high school, and his father was a career Army Officer at VPI. His father later took a job as an architect in Charleston which brought Bob to the College of Charleston. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He later earned a Master’s in Education degree from the University of Virginia in 1958.
