Cain Family International Scholarship
Travel abroad scholarship; must submit an essay; minimum 3.2 GPA; financial need; preference to students in Honors College.
Walter M. Cain ‘82 and his siblings Randy Cain ’80 and Irene Cain Simoneaux ’84, attended the College after attending high school in Florence, SC. Their parents were missionaries to Japan who helped make the experience and understanding of cultures outside their own a significant part of the family’s dynamic and legacy. Walter and his siblings were scholarship recipients at the College and were also active in campus leadership through a variety of service and honor fraternities. Walter spend his junior year as an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai in Japan, a base for one of the first international exchange programs sponsored by the College of Charleston.
The Cain Family International Scholarship is intended to assist in the learning of languages through total immersion and cross-cultural experience.
