Oliver Steinberg Endowed/Annual Scholarship in Business

Larry and Karla Steinberg established this endowed scholarship in honor of their son, Oliver Steinberg ’23, for the occasion of his graduation and accomplishments while a student at the College of Charleston. Oliver double majored in finance and commercial real estate finance and minored in Jewish studies. During his tenure at CofC, Oliver took advantage of many opportunities across campus to hone his business acumen and develop his leadership skills. In his junior year, Oliver was accepted into the prestigious Investment Program in the School of Business, where he focused on European markets and the real estate sector. He also served as the School of Business Marketing Committee chair for the Success Mentoring Program and was one of two student appointees to the School of Business Board of Governors.

Oliver has also spent much of his time in leadership positions in the business school and across campus. A member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Oliver served as chair of the scholarship committee where he developed and implemented strategies for increasing the chapter’s overall GPA. As philanthropy chair of SAE, he organized all campus Greek Life philanthropy programs and partnered with Charleston Miracle to lead the most successful fund-raising event to date within the CofC Greek organization. Oliver was vice president and then president of the College’s Interfraternity Council and contributed to the governance and conduct oversight of fraternities at CofC. These experiences both prepared him to enter the business world after graduation with applied knowledge and industry experience, and positively impacted the lives of his peers and community through his service and leadership. Through the legacy established by this endowed scholarship, the Steinbergs hope to inspire future generations of students in the School of Business to maximize the myriad opportunities for personal and professional development that the College has to offer.
